About us

The tradition of Welsh male voice choirs grew from our mining, industrial and religious heritage where men sang music that was soulful, uplifting and powerful and yet was also sensitive and moving. Monmouth Male Voice choir seeks to uphold and continue this tradition.
The Choir was formed in 2012 by a small group of men, led by the actor Aneirin Hughes. It is now a registered charity and has around 60 members. The choir has achieved a great deal during its short existence. This includes performing at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and St David's Hall, Cardiff. On two occasions the choir has led the community singing at the Principality Stadium, firstly at the Wales v Scotland match in 2016 and then the Wales v Georgia match in 2022.
The Choir holds an annual gala concert in Monmouth and performs at various fund-raising events. It has sung at many private functions such as weddings and has provided a "male voice" sound to film and music recordings. The choir will carefully consider every request. If you think we could benefit your event please get in touch.
A message from the Choir Chairman, Richard Mitchley
Shwmae a chroeso!
We are a community choir and although we strive to create the best sound we can, you don’t need to be a Pavarotti to join us! We have a wide range of resources to support new choristers. Why not just come along to a rehearsal. You'd be welcomed without having to make any commitment. You may even end up singing at a rugby international!
Rehearsals take place in Monmouth Baptist Church, Monk Street, every Thursday 7:30-9:30.
